Smithsonian Teachers' Night
A FREE Open House for Educators All Over the Country

Join us for Smithsonian Teachers’ Night 2004, the Smithsonian’s twelfth annual open house for teachers. The event shares and honors Native American cultures through special Native American films, books, performances, refreshments, and more. It is open, free of charge, to educators.

The Smithsonian Institution and Chabot Space & Science Center are co-hosting a special evening for Bay Area teachers, featuring a keynote speaker, informal activities, and free education materials.

Tour the night sky in the Ask Jeeves Planetarium. Enjoy the immersive experience of a large-format film in the Tien Megadome Theater. Encounter Mars, take a Moon Odyssey, and discover the secrets of five thousand years of Chinese astronomy. Meet museum educators and Smithsonian personnel to discuss school programs and share ideas.  Enjoy light refreshments and entertainment.  Gaze at the stars through three powerful telescopes.  Enter a raffle to win a gift basket from the Starry Nights Gift Shop.

Join us for a private open house for educators. Receive free educational resources for your classroom. Register your school for a field trip and receive a one-night-only discount. Watch an IMAX® film. Meet Space Science educators and discuss specialized school programs. Attend Dr. Goddard's Lab, and receive two lesson plans for classroom hands-on experiments.

Tour the largest collection of international space artifacts in the world. Enjoy an open house at the Future Astronaut Training Program simulators.  Shop at our museum store with a special discount. Enjoy light refreshments. Visit with exhibitors from across the region. There will be welcoming presentations at 4:30 and 5:45 p.m. Door prizes will be given away at each presentation.
